City Showcase was established as a not-for-profit year-round festival of new music, responsible for breaking some of the best names into the industry since 2003.
City Showcase has provided a year-round platform for new artists, identifying and developing them through a unique combination of showcasing opportunities, industry networking sessions and masterclasses in the UK and beyond – all free from commercial sector constraints.
City Showcase held its first market in 2012 with Soho Flea Market which was hugely successful with both stallholders, public and press.
Many successful creatives to have come through City Showcase events include musicians and performers such as Laura Marling, Keane, Razorlight, Foxes, Hudson Taylor, Gabriella Cilmi, Newton Faulkner, Ray LaMontagne, Scouting for Girls, NDubz, Gabrielle Aplin, Hot Chip, Lucy Rose, Seth Lakeman and the sadly late but great Amy Winehouse.
Designers showcasing with us have included: ethical up-cycling gurus From Somewhere and Hannah Marshall (now a London Fashion Week showcaser famous for her bespoke designs for singers including Florence Welch), plus our very first market included Lou Rota, well known for her insect ceramics.
Wayne Hemingway : “City Showcase is a great concept. Getting exposure in different ways to the norm could be a launch pad for the lucky few. City Showcase provides ongoing advice from industry experts also helps to keep expectations real – something rare in this business. London needs to support and provide a platform for new talent if it is to remain one of the world’s cutting-edge fashion capitals. City Showcase does this, and it’s great to see London leading the way for promoting raw talent.”
