Missing Link:
The new breed of Tastemaker independent labels provide their views on what they look for in an artist. Between unsigned acts and major labels are a set of niche independent labels that specialise in releasing first EP’s of new and emerging acts and help create the awareness around the act which attracts the majors/bigger labels to sit up and take notice. These labels could be seen as the real eyes and ears of the Industry and the real A&R’s. City Showcase invites what it sees as some of the most important independent labels to give their opinions on why they do what they do, what they look for in an artist and their motivations?
Moderated by Seven Webster (7pm Management). Panellists include Guy Lowman (Fierce Panda), Paul Fernandes (Broken Sound), Julie Weir (Visible Noise) and Darren Saddler (Undergroove Records)

Leading music managers discuss whether, in the new age, an old conventional management contract is worthwhile or would they rather become a part of the bands’ business as a business partner. Also, what do artists think about this? Does an artist need a manager? Is 20 percent of diminished record sales worth getting out of bed for and does this limit the manager regarding the kind of act they would manage?
Moderated by Jon Webster (MMF). Panellists include Brian Message (ATC Management), Chris Morrison (CMO Management), Erik Nielsen (Wingnut Music) and Gary McClarnan (Sparklestreet)
