PRESS RELEASE

City Showcase: Spotlight New Zealand
25 – 28 November 2010

FESTIVAL OF NEW MUSIC
Discovering the Future – Backing the Best

City Showcase, London’s leading festival for new music, takes place annually, and is coming to New Zealand on 25-28 November. City Showcase provides public exposure, advice and mentoring, plus the crucial contacts that aspiring talent needs. There are live events in venues throughout Napier giving musicians the opportunity to perform in CBD stores and cafés and legendary venues such as The Cabana, The Sideline Bar, The Cathedral and Kazba

The festival culminates at the iconic Soundshell on Sunday 28th November with Finding the Future where the top 4 bands chosen by the public from those performing over the previous 3 days will join Phil Edwards Band (TRN competition winners) and perform in front of a mic’d up industry panel, including Campbell Smith (CEO of The Recording Industry Association of New Zealand Inc (RIANZ), who also has his own Management Company, CRS Music Management Limited), Ian James (Managing Director, Mushroom Music Publishing, Australia and recipient of a Midem Masters Award), Mike Chunn (CEO of the Play It Strange Trust which implements music programmes for New Zealand school and former member of the New Zealand bands Split Enz and Citizen Band) and Hamish Pinkham organiser of Rhythm & Vines. The ultimate winner will be invited to travel to London to play City Showcase there in May 2011.

Established as a key date for music lovers and industry talent spotters in London, City Showcase is a rare opportunity to see tomorrow’s future stars.
