Embankment Summer Market 2015

Working with Westminster Council, City Showcase created a new event for 2015:  located in Embankment Gardens, Westminster,  London we called it Embankment Summer Market and hosted it between Friday 29th May – Sunday 31st May 2015.  City Showcase wanted an expanded space to showcase the musicians and designers that it supports in a more effective way and Westminster wanted to promote Embankment Gardens as a beautiful location in London’s Northbank for the public to enjoy.  City Showcase curated, programmed organised, produced and promoted the event and was responsible for all Health & Safety and licensing.

For its inaugural event three were 70 new designer stallholders and 50 musicians on stage as well as a farmer’s market with unique produce including the now mainstream Capsicana and artisan hot food producers. The festival feel for a summer fete was topped off with croquet and other lawn games. Thousands of people attended over the long weekend.

Embankment Summer Market will take place in Victoria Embankment Gardens from Friday 29th May to Sunday 31st May 2015. Created by City Showcase: Markets, the unique new three-day event follows last year’s Soho Flea Market which saw over 18,000 people visit Dean Street, London.

Bringing together up and coming artisans, artists, fashion designers and jewellery designers; Embankment Summer Market also features Street Food, the Meantime Bar, a farmer’s market, lawn games and 3 days of live music and entertainment for all. The event’s charity partner is The Connection at St Martins, which helps homeless people in the heart of Central London.

City Showcase: Markets has curated a fantastic selection of over 180 stalls over the weekend including: Annette Bugansky, award-winning handmade tactile range of porcelain vases, tableware, lighting and giftware; Collari, scientifically reinvented ceramic mugs; Elephant Branded, which donates a school kit to children in African and Asia for each sale of its bags and branded products; Jimbobart, expressively illustrated animal ceramics and printed goods; Kate Moby, hand-drawn tranquil minimalist patterned, eco-friendly homeware and accessories; Maya Magal, modern British jewellery from Hatton Garden, regularly worn by the likes of Jourdan Dunn, Alexa Chung, Rita Ora, Suki Waterhouse; Pocket London, owned by Edward Page and Louise Thompson of Made in Chelsea fame, offers lifestyle leisurewear for a generation seeking individualistic expression; Shoelicks, ‘Pimp Your Heels’ stickers to modify your shoe collection – stocked by River Island after being scouted at Soho Flea Market 2014; Stolen Form, recasting iconic urban features into striking functional and decorative products; The Food Guide, designs focused on food; We Are Scamp, colourful and funky baby-wear, bold and simple graphics on bedroom accessories and personalised products for stylish parents; Kith & Kin, ethical vibrant lifestyle products: advocating quality over quantity.
